Camilla Elphick ⋆ RIXO

Camilla Elphick

Describe your workwear style?
My workwear style changes daily and is very dependent on the day ahead …I don’t like looking scruffy and make sure I have freshly painted nails, natural make up (my not so secret permeant eye-lash extensions) and a spritz of perfume and my Iphone fully charged. My favourite workwear style is a look you can take from day to night – I love the RIXO printed midi-length dresses and wear them during the day with our sneakers and then colourful heels in the evening which pick up the hues in the dress.

Tell us about your brand. Why you started it and any challenges you’ve faced so far as a female/ your own boss?
After graduating from LCF Cordwainers and Parsons in New York City I went on to intern with the likes of Paul Andrew, Charlotte Olympia and Sophia Webster. 2014 was where it all began, from a small desk in Shoreditch I started designing and contacting factories in Milan. Later that year, I launched my first collection ‘You Got The Luck’ and got my first order.

Where do you and your team get your coffee fix near your office?
We sound like we are all quite addicted to coffee…we are! Our favourite local coffee shops are Pichi which has newly opened on Ladbroke Grove and good old Pret – they do a mean coconut milk flat white!

What are the top 3-5 songs on your office playlist at the minute?
Georgina is in charge of music: I stay out of it! Our top trending songs are: In My Feeling by Drake, Hunger by Florence and the Machine, Pure Shores by All Saints, I like It by Cardi B and a mix of Korean pop songs!
You have a day of back-to-back business meetings – tell us your favourite places in London at the moment for:
Breakfast – Electric House in Notting Hill, Soho House Dean Street when in town, Megans or Hally’s in Fulham, C Press or Bluebird in Chelsea, Ozone in Shoreditch.
Lunch – Dinner – My favourite dinner spot is Chicama on the Kings Road, it it is a great date spot as it isn’t too fussy and you can share dishes.
Drinks –  White City House is great for an evening meeting as it just around the corner from our office. We have our team drinks at The Garden Bar on Bramley Road which is always fun.
What’s your go-to RIXO piece that takes you from the office to after work drinks/dinner?
My printed Georgia skirt – It goes with absolutely everything, I got it a couple of years ago and it looks good as new! I usually wear a t-shirt with mine and sneakers and then in the evening I’ll change into a strappy silk top and dress up my footwear.

What will you be snapping up from our new AW18 collection?
I think people may think I only wear my star print skirt, I think I need a second skirt so I can rotate the look! I think the Gracie Spot Leopard skirt will also look quite good with our new bike boots coming out this Fall.  I think the Moss blouse in abstract blue daisy would go with all of the pale denim I have. I have a wedding coming up and I’ve had my eye on the Bluebelle Studio Stripe Dress for a while and would love to wear it for this.
