You’re London secret?
There’s a lovely wine shop/deli/café/place-stocking-everything-I-generally-need-and-want-to-spend-money-on that’s local to where I live in Leyton called Yardarm. I’d recommend visiting if you’re in the E10 area. While you’re there also have a stroll around Francis Road before it becomes too popular and over-subscribed. It feels like a very young, small version of Stoke Newington’s high street, with independent shops, great food and a relaxed vibe.
Summer get away?
Last year I got married in Vejer De La Frontera, Spain and have a real soft spot for the Costa De La Luz now. It’s a more bohemian sibling to the other, busier coasts in Spain. Flamenco, tapas, sherry, sunshine, surfing, less tourists and close to Seville… what more could you ask for!? I visited again this summer with friends and there’s still so much to discover.
Favourite part of your job role?
Providing the Who What Wear UK reader with newness, bragging rights and inspiration. It’s an inherently upbeat, inclusive, informative place that tackles the big style questions as well as the small ones—there’s nothing I love more than being able to inspire others to feel excited about what they wear, buy, save and share with others.
Where do you go to let your hair down?
Anywhere with karaoke! NOTHING and NO ONE can stop me once I’ve got that mic.
How do you switch off?
Spin classes, cuddles with my cat Folly and—if I have the creative energy—drawing. If I felt braver, I’d probably join a choir.
You’re biggest extravagance?
On a day-to-day basis it’s the amount of oat milk flat whites I now drink since I switched from tea to coffee earlier this year. Otherwise, I just bought a Céline necklace that was way out of my price range, but I had been wanting it for months. I believe that if you’re still obsessing over something 6 months down the line, it’s worth investing!
Favourite vintage shops?
House of Vintage on Cheshire Street and Nordic Poetry on Bethnal Green Road are both great for more luxe pieces. I also spend a lot of time trawling Etsy for late ’60s and early ’70s pieces.
Current Podcast / book recommendation?
I’m weirdly into Alec Baldwin’s ‘Here’s The Thing’ podcast right now – listen to his chats with Barbra Streisand and Sarah Jessica Parker and you might get hooked too! I’m also an avid listener of Malcom Gladwell’s ‘Revisionist History’, as it gives me the opportunity to learn and think outside of my usual fashion realm.
Favourite RIXO pieces?
Um… everything!? I love the brand’s midi dress styles and have done right from the start, especially when they have a higher neck and a nipped-in waist—that’s my go-to shape ordinarily, but it’s the print compositions that make these pieces extraordinary!
